Training Division

The Training Division develops, coordinates and delivers training and education coursework for the staff of the Lexington Fire Department.

Personnel Training and Education

The Training Division provides firefighters with continuous operational training on a regular basis. Firefighters receive a variety of general training courses throughout the year including fireground operations, apparatus driver training, hazardous materials, rescue and collapse, and operational readiness to name a few.

Career Development

The Lexington Fire Department offers staff extensive opportunities to enhance their careers through advanced coursework, certifications and degrees. Many of the courses are offered are available onsite at the fire station or online via the internet. Additionally the city offers a tuition reimbursement program to help staff defray costs of some courses and degrees.

The Training Division works closely with institutions of higher learning to coordinate with various colleges, schools and organizations to bring quality education opportunities to our staff. Some of the organizations the fire department maintains relationship include:
