Uptown Fire Station

Prior to construction of the current building the fire department was headquartered at city hall and shared space with city administration. In 1989 the uptown fire station was constructed to allow for expansion of the fire department and city offices. The fire station is located near the uptown business district and is home to Engine-181, Ladder-81, Command-681 and the department’s administrative offices. The station also houses Ladder-82, an unmanned reserve truck. The first due response area includes central and most of eastern Lexington including the Uptown Business District and surrounding neighborhoods, Lexington Home Brands, city and county government and the corporate facilities for Lexington State Bank and Lexcom Communications.
