Getting around could not be any easier when you are in Lexington whether it is by rail, open roads, air, taxi or bus. NC Amtrak

Passenger Rail
If your choice is rail, freight carriers such as Winston-Salem Southbound and Norfolk Southern serve Lexington and passenger access via Amtrak is only 15 minutes away. Lexington is scheduled to receive passenger rail service by 2015.

Highways
If you prefer the open roads, there are numerous options. Interstate 85 passes directly through Lexington as does US Highway 52 (future I-285), US Highway 64, US Highway 29-70, and NC Highway 8. Other major highways serving the Lexington area include NC Highways 47, 49, 109, and 150. The proximity to I-85 and US Highway 52 places the City airportviewan hour or less from major population centers such as Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. As a bonus, Lexington is just over an hour from the Research Triangle Park in Durham and the State Capitol in Raleigh by way of Interstates 85 and 40 or by US Highway 64.

Airports 
If you prefer air travel, the Davidson County Airport located in Lexington can accommodate your executive travel needs. A full taxiway to a runway of 5000 feet by 100 feet paves the way for an airport that is growing. For commercial flight options, Lexington is approximately 30 minutes from Piedmont Triad International in Greensboro, an hour from Charlotte-Douglas International, and just over an hour from Raleigh-Durham International.

transportation busIf you need bus transportation in Lexington, Davidson County Transportation operates a Lexington Circulator Loop Monday to Friday. The 15 mile loop circulates approximately every 50 minutes. Call 336-242-2250 for more information.

For bus transportation to and from Lexington, the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) has two stops in Lexington with access to Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point, Chapel Hill, Durham, Kernersville, Yadkinville, Boone, King and Mount Airy.
