Public Utilities Logo GreenThe City of Lexington owns and operates four utility services: a water treatment and distribution system, a wastewater treatment and collection system, an electric distribution system and a natural gas distribution system. In addition to serving city residents, Lexington Utilities also serve customers in areas throughout Davidson County and combine to total $79 million or 76% of the annual budget. The utilities are operated in a manner similar to private business enterprise; whereas, the guiding principle for City Council is to finance and recover the costs of providing these utility services to Lexington Utilities customers through user charges and fees. Utility rate schedules can be viewed by following the links below.
