Lexington City Council goal progress realized with CityWiFi on the streets of Uptown Lexington just in time for Christmas!
Posted Date: 12/21/2012

Launching free public WiFi on the streets of Uptown Lexington takes another leap towards City Council Goals #2 and #6: " Define new economic direction..." and "Diversify the brand of Lexington..."

Information Technologies staff, along with significant support from City forces in the Electric and Fire departments, installed an outdoor wireless internet service blanketing coverage of more than twelve blocks in Uptown Lexington. Due to the strong commitment businesses and merchants in the Uptown Special Tax District make annually to keep the heart of Lexington vibrant, the initial area is geared towards the boundaries of the special tax district.
