Know What to Recycle to Avoid Future Fines

When in Doubt, Throw it Out!   Note: STOP recycling glass!

Lexington City Council and staff are proud of the partnership citizens provide in our mission to "go green."  Your efforts to continue finding ways to reduce waste, recycle, and even repurpose materials will impact future generations.  

Having said that, recent changes in the recycling industry are challenging and require your help!  Make sure you and your family are educated about the items that can be placed in your blue recycling rollout.  Click here for updated items/guidelines.  Note:  We can no longer recycle glass - toss it in the green can.

We also realize this presents a challenge to find uses for items you were previously placing in your recycling rollout, so here are a couple of websites that offer ideas to reuse plastic bags and glass containers.  Also, Food Lion grocery stores have bins where you can recycle plastic bags.
