The City’s extensive Group Health Insurance includes medical, vision, and dental coverage administered by MedCost Benefit Services. Health plan costs are shared by the City and employees.
Life Insurance benefits (including Accidental Death and Dismemberment), Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage are provided at no cost to eligible employees through the Standard Insurance Company. Dependent life insurance may be purchased.
The City of Lexington makes contributions to the Local Governmental Employees’ Retirement System on behalf of eligible employees, and employees become vested after 5 years of service.
Eligible employees may contribute to the NC 401(K) Supplemental Retirement Plan to increase their retirement savings, and are fully vested from their very first contribution.
As part of an all encompassing benefits package, the Human Resources Department facilitates a voluntary award winning Wellness Program known as “Working on Wellness” or the WOW Program.
An array of additional benefits is offered to maintain a well-rounded benefits program at the City in an effort to attract and retain a high caliber workforce.
