The City of Lexington Parks and Recreation department organizes two annual festivals each year, the Multicultural Festival, and the Fantastic 4th Celebration. Both festivals involve hundreds of volunteers and sponsors, and draw thousands of attendees from Lexington and beyond. If you are interested in being a vendor or performer, please contact Tammy Curry, or if you would like to be a sponsor, please contact Andrew Lance.
Fantastic 4th Celebration
Every July 4th, people travel from all over the region to attend the Fantastic 4th Celebration at the Davidson County Fairgrounds and watch the fireworks in Lexington! Thousands enjoy our patriotic celebration and make it a part of their family "4th" tradition. The event offers amusements, music, concessions, and activities for adults and kids of all ages. Admission is FREE, and concessions and amusements are available for purchase. Lauren Light put on a great performance in 2017, and the highlight of the festival each year is the evening fireworks display!
The 21st Annual Multicultural Festival was held in the Uptown Lexington Historic District on May 6th from 10:00 am - 5:00pm. The day was filled with the sights, sounds and tastes of foreign lands, and offered a wonderful and educational outing for the entire family! The event showcased cultural diversity through elaborate costumes, musical instruments, exhibits and entertainment, and featured a Naturalization Ceremony where 21 people became US citizens.
