Chief of Police Tad KepleyWelcome message from Chief of Police Tad Kepley

Welcome to the Lexington Police Department. The men and women that make up the Lexington Police Department are committed to making Lexington safe for its residents and visitors. These dedicated officers utilize proactive enforcement strategies and crime prevention methods to reduce crime. The department seeks input from the community and citizen groups like Community Watch to create long-term solutions to solve crime problems in their neighborhoods.

Our goal is to make your website experience user friendly, dynamic and informative. The Administrative Staff link provides the names and information about the Command Staff. The Lexington Police Department has a newly constructed state of the art Police Training Center and offers many advantages for recruits. Under Police to Citizen Reports, you can freely check police records for crash reports, arrests, missing persons and more. Crime Statistics allows you to view Lexington’s crime rate over a ten year period and Crime Stoppers explains how information on a crime can be shared with police in a confidential manner. Our once a year crime prevention celebration is described under National Night Out. To further assist you, we have included answers to the most frequently asked questions by citizens.

The Lexington Police Department is made up of three divisions: Uniformed, Investigations and Administration. The department consists of 64 sworn officers, 10 civilians, 9 reserve officers and 5 school guards. While each has specific areas of responsibilities, all work together to ensure Lexington is a safe place to live.
