Welcome to the Lexington Police Department. The men and women that make up the Lexington Police Department are committed to making Lexington safe for its residents and visitors. These dedicated officers utilize proactive enforcement strategies and crime prevention methods to reduce crime. The department seeks input from the community and citizen groups like Community Watch to create long-term solutions to solve crime problems in their neighborhoods.

The Lexington Police Department has a newly constructed state of the art Police Training Center and offers many advantages for recruits. The Lexington Police Department is made up of three divisions: Uniformed, Investigations and Administration. The department consists of 63 sworn officers, 10 civilians, 9 reserve officers and 5 school guards. While each has specific areas of responsibilities, all work together to ensure Lexington is a safe place to live.
Captain William Scarboro commands the Uniformed Division that is responsible for providing 24 hour protection by responding to 911 emergency calls, enforcing traffic laws and investigating traffic crashes. Each patrol team is made up of a lieutenant, a sergeant and 6 officers. Special Operations falls under Captain Scarboro's command as well, addressing neighborhood problems, traffic complaints, school security, animal issues and parking enforcement.
Captain Robby Rummage commands the Investigation Division that is responsible for investigating major crimes and drug investigations. The division is made of two teams, detectives and vice. Each team has a lieutenant, a sergeant and seasoned officers with experience in their field. Detectives handle serious crime including murder, rape, robbery, burglary, larceny, aggravated assault, auto theft and fraud. Vice is responsible for drug, alcohol and prostitution violations.
