Golf Assistant

Summary
The Golf Assistant performs intermediate clerical work, collection of fees, and general maintenance and operation of the golf shop. They operate the golf course tee time and does inventory using the computer software system. The Golf Assistant works with the golf cart fleet, pulling out, parking, cleaning, and helping to maintain the cart fleet. Does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Golf Professional/ Golf Shop Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school;
• Driver’s license valid in NC and good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Some knowledge of the operation of a golf shop;
• General knowledge of the game of golf;
• General knowledge of computer software skills and applications;
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions;
• Ability to perform record keeping and mathematical calculations;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, associates, employees and the general public;
• Ability to attend work regularly;
• Ability to work varying hours during the golfing season.

Essential Functions
• Assists golfers; collects and accounts for fees and charges;
• Records each player in computer system, totals, and verifies fees collected;
• Receives receipts and accounts for fees received, prepares daily cash reports and deposits;
• Prepares scoring sheets, creates signs and prepares computer records, assists with handicapping;
• Answers telephone, records tee-times;
• Opens and closes shop;
• Rangers golf course and maintains pace of play of golf course;
• Marshalls golf course to make sure rules and regulations are being followed;
• Sells all golf equipment and accessories;
• Assists with rental book for Commons on the Green Facility;
• Cleans pro-shop, club rooms and rest rooms; performs general custodial work when assigned;
• Pulls out, cleans and puts away golf carts; helps in maintaining golf cart fleet;
• Performs related tasks as required.

Physical Demands
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and some occasional work with heavy weight materials. The work requires stooping, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions. Speech and hearing is required to communicate in person and by radio and telephone. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions.

Work Environment
The work environment involves inside and outside environmental conditions and is subject to variations in temperatures from hot to cold. Work requires normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, general public areas, working near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet. Use of safe work practices with office and general golfer’s equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations are required.

Work Schedule
Variable Hours, Monday - Friday with some weekends and holidays; Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule that requires evenings, weekends ,and some holidays.

Special Requirements
