The Department of Water and Sewer Resources develops and maintains system for distributing water and collecting wastewater while providing for the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

With modern water plants and waste treatment facilities and the capability of pumping more than six million gallons daily, Lexington Utilities has no shortage of fresh healthy drinking water. Lexington has been cited for the best tasting water in the entire state di and has received the Advanced Technology Award from the Environmental Protection Agency. Innovative water conservation programs are available for both commercial and residential applications.
