Engineering Department

EngineeringThe Engineering Department operates to protect the City of Lexington's interest in both new development and the operation and maintenance of existing City infrastructure. The Engineering Department provides engineering, technical, and contract management assistance to all City departments. It is the Engineering Department's responsibility to schedule, design, prepare specifications, acquire permits, secure rights-of-ways, advertise, bid, and manage all capital improvement projects as directed and approved by the City Council and the City Manager. Other engineering responsibilities include plan review, obtaining and holding applicable permits and encroachment agreements, and observing the construction of new public infrastructure to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
